Here's a project that never got any traction but is interesting none-the-less. It is a design proposal for a high speed motoryacht with an overall length of 163'. Labeled the TS 163', it brought together a talented team of builder, designers and engineers:

Naval Architecture & Engineering: Sparkman & Stephens

The T in the model name refers to Technomarine (not to be confused with the watchmaker) and the S refers to the three S's: Sparkman & Stephens, Paola Smith and Tommaso Spadolini.

CODOG propulsion with twin GE LM1600 gas turbines developing 17,600 hp each and twin Deutz TBD 604B V16 diesel engines coupled by way of a MAAG combining marine reverse gears coupled to steerable RIVA CALZONI water jets.

Continuous max speed with gas turbines 70 knots
Continuous max speed with diesels 17 knots
Endurance speed (for max range) 10 knots

Range
At max speed with gas turbines 500 nautical miles
At endurance range speed 3,000 nautical miles
